Global Terrorism Database (GTD) : The Global Terrorism Database (GTD) is an open-source database including information on terrorist events around the world since 1970 (currently updated through 2004). Institute for the Study of Violent Groups : The Institute for the Study of Violent Groups is a research institute at Sam Houston State University dedicated to studying and tracking terrorist, extremist, and organized crime groups throughout the world. SHELDUS: Spatial Hazard Events and Losses Database for the United States;
Beta Version: A county-level hazard data set for the U.S. for 18 different natural hazard events types such thunderstorms, hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and tornados. The database covers the period from 1960-2000. For each event the database includes the beginning date, location (county and state), property losses, crop losses, injuries, and fatalities that affected each county. The data set does not include Puerto Rico, Guam, or other U.S. territories.
The data were derived from several existing national data sources such as National Climatic Data Center's monthly Storm Data publications and NGDC's Tsunami Event Database. Only those events that generated more than $50,000 in damages were included in SHELDUS.
