International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Drought Assessment and Mitigation in South West Asia: International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is a nonprofit scientific research organization that specializes in agricultural water use and integrated management of water and land resources. IWMI has launched a large-scale regional assessment across India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in a common effort to find ways to mitigate the effects of recurrent droughts.
The Project analyzes hydro-meteorological and human factors involved, conducts the reviews of the existing drought coping and management experiences in the region and identifies the existing knowledge gaps. The study is viewed as a quick survey of regional drought research and management in order to undertake a larger longer-term, regional drought assessment and mitigation program in the future.

Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Project : In the fall of 2005, the U.S. Congress directed the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, in partnership with the State of Louisiana, to undertake the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration (LACPR) Project to identify, describe, and propose a full range of flood control, coastal restoration, and hurricane protection measures for South Louisiana.
