Activities and Services
The Center for Community Support (CCS) provides activities and services to communities
through the State of Texas and the Technology and Society Division of the Texas
Engineering Experiment Station at Texas A&M University. Activities and services
provided are tailored to the unique needs and capabilities of each community.
Activities
Monitoring grant opportunities using existing grants information networks
(such as Grants Alert) and through direct review of the Federal and Texas Registers.
Identifying high-need areas of the state through contacts with state
agency staff, direct analysis of quality of life and need indicators (e.g. health,
public safety, economic stability, etc.), and through contacts with community
providers.
Providing all aspects of grant-writing support necessary to develop competitive
applications.
Conducting community grant eligibility assessments and site visits as needed
during grant preparation. Helping develop coalitions of relevant local agencies
and resource groups. Working directly with community grant applicants to fully
develop the proposed project. Providing technical assistance in the areas of community-wide
needs assessments and program evaluation.

Eligibility
Criteria
Texas community-based non-profit organizations are eligible for data and information
services on the basis of the following considerations:
- Community-based public or private non-profit organizations
operating in Texas
- Data and information services are unavailable locally
Proposal writing services are provided on the basis of these additional considerations:
- Local needs align with the stated objectives of the funding
source
- Strong community commitment to the proposed project
- Insufficient local resources to prepare competitive grants
independently
- Sufficient local capability to manage grant if awarded
- Ability to carry on funded programs after the end of the
funding period
